Hello, Darlings! Next week, NYC goes full literary mode with the PEN America World Voices Festival running Wednesday, 4/29 - Saturday, 5/2 across the Village. Enter to win free admission to the festival featuring a full lineup of international writers.*

JUST ANNOUNCED

  • The Rainbow Book Fair returns to The LGBT Community Center in Manhattan on Saturday, 5/9 as the nation’s largest LGBTQ+ literary event, and you can win signed books from all three of their featured authors!*

  • House of Yes is bringing a full lineup of Pride-themed parties and performances this season, spanning Saturday, 6/13 (Brooklyn Pride kickoff) through Sunday, 6/28 (HOY x Tiki Disco x Glitterbox Pride finale).

  • Body Hack just dropped tickets for its next trans and nonbinary-centered happy hour and afterparty at Nowadays next month, bringing together an underground DJ lineup and a deeply intentional queer crowd.

  • Grammy-winning and proudly queer R&B artist Durand Bernarr will join the Blue Note Jazz Festival on Thursday, 6/18, for a live show that blends powerhouse vocals with humor and full personality.

NO COVER GAY THINGS TO DO IN NYC

Not every good night out in NYC needs a cover charge, and these weekly queer staples prove it. From karaoke to singalongs to tea dances, these are the go-to spots you can count on any week for an easy date or spontaneous night out.

THIS WEEKEND

4/23 - MADAME INFAMY MUSICAL @ JOE’S PUB

4/24 - HONEY DIJON @ KNOCKDOWN CENTER

4/25 - POM POM SQUAD @ ELSEWHERE

4/26 - STRIP KEYS PIANO CABARET @ CLUB CUMMING

4/27 - MOST OF MY MOMS ARE GAY @ CAVEAT

LOCALS ONLY

  • New York City just appointed a Black lesbian archivist to lead its official records department in Manhattan. Shawn(ta) Smith-Cruz will focus on preserving LGBTQ+ and marginalized histories.

  • The NYC LGBT Community Center raised over $2 million at its annual gala on Wednesday, 4/16, drawing major donors and even a failed $35K cameo bid tied to the gay series Heated Rivalry. It’s a reminder that while queer spaces are disappearing physically, funding and influence are consolidating in the places we have left.
